About Me
I am a PhD candidate in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at Acıbadem University, Istanbul, Turkey. My research focuses on bioinformatics, genomics, and computational approaches to understanding genetic variants and ciliopathies.
Research Interests
My primary research interests include:
- Comparative genomics and variant analysis across species
- Bioinformatics tool development (R packages, web applications)
- Machine learning applications in genomics
- Ciliopathy genetics and functional characterization
- Single-cell data analysis
Current Work
I am currently working on several bioinformatics projects, including:
- ConVarT: A search engine for matching human genetic variants with variants from non-human species (convart.org)
- CilioGenics: An integrative bioinformatics tool for predicting ciliary genes (ciliogenics.com)
- Developing machine learning models to improve variant pathogenicity prediction using AlphaFold structures
Background
I have experience in both wet-lab and computational biology, having worked with:
- CRISPR/Cas9 gene modification
- C. elegans as a model organism
- R and Python programming
- Statistical analysis and data visualization
- Single-cell genomics
